About

While completing her undergraduate education and transitioning to full-time work, Erin worked with a communications firm for a variety of clients and topic areas including clean energy, transportation, health, city planning, and the arts. Her unique combination of animal welfare education and professional communication experience made her uniquely qualified for her role with the BC SPCA Science & Policy Division, working on provincial issues of wild animal welfare.

In a collaboration between the Animal Welfare Program and BC SPCA, Erin’s first project was tackling issues related to humane wildlife control, including humane standards research, review of animal welfare accreditation programs, industry consultation, hosting an international panel of scientific experts, and developing a program pilot for BC. Erin was instrumental in the development of the BC SPCA’s AnimalKind accreditation program for humane wildlife and rodent control operators.

Erin’s role with the BC SPCA has expanded to cover provincial wildlife initiatives including communications, public education, advocacy, fundraising, and continued involvement with AnimalKind.

A Registered Professional Biologist, Erin also lends her expertise in science communication by volunteering for a wide variety of causes and non-profit organizations.

Erin is a proud member of the Sy’ilx Nation, raised in Kamloops B.C.
