About

My postdoctoral research is focused on assessing and improving rat welfare under different handling, housing and enrichment conditions. I am particularly interested in the study of individual differences in affective states, and their relationship with personality and development, and how this this many be applied to better assess felt emotions in animals I was born and raised in Mexico, and have spent years living in the Netherlands, Uruguay and Canada. For my BSc I studied the development of dominance in domestic cat kittens. My MSc. was focused on cattle welfare in tropical silvo-pastoral systems. In 2019 I completed my PhD in UBC’s Animal Welfare Program, studying among rat variation in emotional responses to CO2.
